Motivation Monday Recap – August 26th, 2024
This week, I have found a lot of motivation in some blogs that are largely familiar to most, but continue to produce great content that applies to physicians and everyone else! Our financial goals have changed with my wife’s debt eliminated and mine being reimbursed through my employer. We no longer have to fixate primarily on debt elimination and can spend more time considering other financial goals. One of the things that has been at the forefront of my mind is saving for our children’s education, creating a living will, and thinking about what truly brings us happiness.
This week, along with my weekly content, I wanted to share with you all several motivating articles I have read over the past week that I think you, too, will find entertaining. Here is your weekly dose of motivation. Have a great Monday!
Table of Contents
The Motivated M.D.
This week, we featured a guest post highlighting the real estate investing options available to supplement a physician’s portfolio. Brought to you by Faes & Co (a current sponsor of our site), we offer a brief foray into the pros and cons of active and passive real estate investing and help determine which one is right for you. You can find the entire article by heading to The Motivated M.D.: Active vs. Passive Real Estate Investing: What’s Right for Physicians?
The Prudent Plastic Surgeon
On August 16th, 2024, Dr. Jordan Frey published a great article analyzing the recent 2024 Doximity compensation report. This report offered insight into physician reimbursement and found that it is decreasing. This was alarming, given that the survey also found that most doctors do not feel fairly compensated. Check out this great article reflecting on the repercussions of decreasing physician pay in a world where physicians feel more burdened than ever in their careers. You can find the entire article by heading to The Prudent Plastic Surgeon: Why is Doctor Pay Decreasing and What Care We Do About It?
Mr. Money Mustache
The next article I thoroughly enjoyed comes from one of the original blogs for personal finance and financial independence, Mr. Money Mustache. He has been retired for nearly 19 years now, and though he posts fewer articles, he continues to experience life regularly and write about it when he can. Though this particular article is not necessarily new, it was motivating nonetheless. What can we still learn from an individual who lived below his means, altered his lifestyle, and retired almost two decades ago? Well, it turns out a lot! If you need an adrenaline shot of motivation and reflection, this article is for you. You can find the entire article at Mr. Money Mustache: The Ultimate Life Coach.
Financial Samurai
The last article I am including this week is another from Sam Dogen of the Financial Samurai. As we all work to improve our finances and seek financial freedom at some point in the future, it is important to determine when we have, in fact, reached that point. When can we even consider our nest egg large enough to no longer work? Sam seeks to answer that very question. You can find the entire article by heading to Financial Samurai: The Minimum Investment Amount Where Work Becomes Optional.
Well, there you have it. I hope the articles above can offer you a brief dose of motivation as you start off this week. See you next Monday! As always…
Stay motivated!
